Title: Utilization of Double-Water-Chamber Seawall type for Wave Energy Extraction and Wave Dissipation

Abstract: Variation type and model of wave energy converter have been applied in many countries around the world in order to harvest the ocean wave power. A number of other devices were developing and testing by researchers in the experimental scale. In the present paper investigates double-water-chamber seawall performance for wave energy converter. The main body of water chamber seawall is like OWC structure. Savonius water turbine and guide vanes used to extract a wave power instead of air turbine as usually used in the OWC type wave converter. The Savonious water turbine with two blade type was chosen in this study and a guide vanes to guiding the water flow to accelerate the water turbine was applied. Application of double-water-chamber seawall is also intended to reduce the reflection wave. The performance of double-water-chamber seawall was tested in the flume tank in order to obtain the efficiency rate and reflection coefficient.

Title: Dynamic Responses of Laminated Glass Plate Subjected to Small Mass Impact

Abstract: Low velocity impact on laminated glass plate like automotive window glass caused by foreign object can be generated internal damage that reduces the strength of the structure significantly. Dynamic responses on automotive glass window like the monolithic and laminated glass are studied by the use of the developed plate finite element simulation. To predict the dynamic response of laminated glass plates, an effective approach based on the Whitney and Pagano’s First-order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT), Dharani's PVB interlayer model and Hertz’s contact law is suggested. Consequently, dynamic responses in MG plate system is more sensitive than those of LG plate system of the same glass thickness and prone to more failure risk. And we can see that the variation of PVB thickness of LG plate system does not affect so much on impact responses.

Title: Use of Residual Rice Husk ash as Structural and Sustainable Conditioner of Clayey Soil

Abstract: Clayey soils are chemically reactive towards certain compounds, allowing manipulate their engineering properties, particularly mechanical strength, which opens up the possibility of strengthening them mixing with proper reinforcements. This research treated the soil adding rice husk ash at doses 0; 2.5; 5; 7.5 and 10%. The residue were chosen because it constitute major environmental liabilities in places where is produced and had already demonstrated potential as fine soils structural modifier. The specimens were compacted and sheared in triaxial compression tests, with confining pressures of 25; 50 and 100 kPa, presenting failure deviator stress 718.2, 722.1 and 731.1% higher than reference, respectively. Also highlights the change in material rheological behavior which changed from ductile to brittle, with significant increase in elasticity modulus, implying stiffness gain. The most striking effect was observed in the cohesion parameter while the effect on the internal friction angle was smaller. It was suggested that reinforcement promoted formation of new product which more than fill the voids of the soil changed the soil for a substance with nature of continuum. The improvement in strength indicated that the waste has ability to decrease environmental liability and improve the natural clayey soil to a material with sustainable engineering properties.

Title: Impact Behaviors of Laminated Glass Plate System Due to Foreign Object

Impact behaviours on automotive glass window like laminated glass is studied by the use of the coded plate finite element approach. To predict the Impact behaviors of laminated glass plates, an effective finite element simulation based on the Whitney and Pagano’s First-order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT), Hertz’s contact law and Dharani's PVB interlayer model is carried out. Consequently, Impact behaviors of MG plate system is more sensitive than those of LG plate and prone to more fracture risk. And we can see that the magnitude of PVB thickness in LG plate system does not affect so much on dynamic behaviors like contact force, contact duration, deformation, kinetic energy and wave propagation etc. except in-plane stress.

Title: Fuzzy Logic Based Negotiation Approach for Cognitive Radio Network in LTE-A

Abstract: In this work, we focus on the spectrum mobility (also known as spectrum handoff) which manages the movements of secondary users to occupy the vacant unlicensed spectrum without interrupting the transmission of primary users. In this paper, we introduce fuzzy logic based negotiation approach based for spectrum handoff in CRN. It contains two Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC), namely, price negotiation and duration negotiation. The proposed system provides a good solution to avoid the communication interruption caused by the mobility of SU. It will reduce the handoff delay by 46 ~ 62% if the SU correctly selects the best PU.

Title: Spectrum Handoff Schemes in Cognitive Radio Network Using Particle Swarm Optimization

Abstract: In this paper, we focus on spectrum mobility (or called spectrum handoff) that occurs when the primary users (PUs) appear to occupy its licensed band that used by secondary users (SUs). We discuss the three spectrum handoff mechanisms that used to reduce the handoff delay (proactive, reactive and hybrid). We implement particle swarm optimization (PSO) to minimize the total service time of spectrum handoff to the optimal value. Numerical results show that PSO is significantly minimizing the total service time compared to other spectrum handoff schemes.
