Title: Underwater Propagation Link Budget as a Basis to Determine The Transmitted Power of Sonar for Submarine Detection

Abstract: The calculation of the transmit power or link budget is a common and ordinary computations performed when planning a communication, in this case, SONAR system. This paper contains link budget calculations for SONAR signal which propagates in the water as the transmission medium. Principally, the model has the same as air medium for radio wave propagation. Those are, the transmitter, transmission medium and the receiver, the different is only parameters and characteristics of transmission medium. If the magnitude of the signal level at the receiver side, the losses in the transmission medium, noise level, the operating frequency and the distance to be achieved are known, then the acoustic level must be projected by transducer, or projector, at the transmitter can be calculated. By taking into account the projector conversion loss, so the applied electric power for the projector can be determined.

Abstract: Faster processing units requires speedy arithmetic block especially for higher frequency clocks of the system, the arithmetic block must fulfill the greater requirement of power. Area and speed are usually conflicting constraints. This paper presents the best solution to this problem by comparing the results of different multipliers. BOOTH recoding is implemented in this research and hence, provided a healthy comparison for Bit serial and Wallace tree multipliers of different size.

Title: Low Cost Production of Pullulan Obtained From Granulated Sugar and Different Nitrogen Sources

Abstract: Pullulan production using white granulated sugar as carbon and energy source by two Aureobasidium pullulans strains (IOC 3467 and IOC 3011) was studied aiming cost reduction and maximization of the process yield. For this purpose, different sources of nitrogen – NaNO3, (NH4)2SO4, NH4NO3, urea and residual brewery yeast – were added to the medium in different concentrations to a carbon/nitrogen ratio of 5 and 150. All nitrogen sources in the proportions tested were capable to promote cell growth and biopolymer production by both strains. However, for both stains fermentations, the amount produced and broth viscosity were dependent on the tested conditions. Overall, the best results were observed for the IOC 3011 strain. Residual brewery yeast was the nitrogen source that provided the greatest pullulan yield (0.48 and 0.55 g/g, strains IOC 3467 and IOC 3011, respectively) and the highest values of fermented broth viscosity for both strains. The results showed that the use of white granulated sugar and residual brewery yeast as carbon and nitrogen source, respectively, increased the pullulan production. The use of these carbon and nitrogen sources allow the cost reduction of pullulan production since they are renewable feedstock, low-cost, abundant and available worldwide.

Title: The Association of Sleep Deprivation on the Occurrence of Errors by Nurses Who Work the Night Shift

Abstract: To determine the influence of sleep deprivation on the occurrence of errors by registered nurses working in night shift in intensive care departments. The study utilized a multi-part questionnaire which included items about demographic characteristics, reported medical errors, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) 300 questionnaires were distributed to registered nurses working in intensive care departments. 138 of the 153 (51% response rate) collected questionnaires were analyzed using correlation and stepwise logistic multiple regression. Registered nurses who were sleep deprived had worse sleep quality in terms of high PSQI than those who were not. None of the demographic variables was statistically significant, not providing evidence that these variables may explain odds for being sleep deprived in the population. Work schedule changes, offering shorter periods of time on night shift and less working hours in the week may lead to better sleep quality and less sleep deprivation.

Abstract: The high demand of urban transportion services has become an opportunity for companies to gain customers. The important key for company in maintaining and improving customer relationship is customer satisfaction. The samples of this research are 1200 taxi users of BB taxi, EX taxi, and TX taxi which rush ini around Jakarta City. Structural equation modeling is used for data processing and analyzing. The result of this study indicates the company image has the strongest impact. Thus, companies needs to consider company image and other several significant factors to increase customer satisfaction and earn customer loyalty.

Title: Waste Heat Recovery and its Utilization for Electric Power Generation in Cement Industry

Abstract: In a conventional cement production plant, about 75% of the overall energy utilized is thermal energy and the rest 25% is electrical energy. This makes the cement production as one of the most energy intensive industrial process in the world. Around 26% of the overall heat energy input to the system is wasted because of convection from the pre-heaters and kiln, radiation, dust, clinker discharge etc. resulting in environment pollution. This makes the cement industry the main contender for Waste Heat Recovery (WHR). This waste heat can be efficiently recycled for electric power generation by installing a Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant (WHRPP). The main objective of this paper is to analyze all the benefits achieved by the FECTO Cement Plant, Pakistan by installing a WHRPP of 6 MW based on the methodology of ACM004 of CDM. The waste and effective energy is audited and the exhaust waste gases before and after the installation of WHRPP are evaluated. Its effect on cement production and water consumption are also discussed. Finally the potential of installing a WHRPP in Pakistan, and the barriers in-terms of its installation, are discussed.

Title: The Chemistry Characterization and Activity Antibacterial of Different Extracts of ANISE

Abstract: This study deals with the valorization of medicinal and aromatic plants of the Yemen and Morocco flora, with the goal to find new bioactive natural products. The extracts constituents from the seeds of Anise species growing in Meknes of Morocco and Sa’adh of Yemen were extracted by Soxhlet and then analysed by GC-MS. The most important characterized compounds were Anethole, Estragole (p-allylanisole and methyl chavicol), DL-Camphor and Fenchone. These four compounds are of particular interest due to their high concentration found in the different extracts. The antibacterial activity of six extracts was evaluated both by the diffusion method and by determining the inhibition zone. All organic extracts exhibited interesting antibacterial activities at different levels against strains reported as causal agents of food-borne diseases. Results highlight the potential use of plant as condiment and preservative in the food industry. Herein, we have investigated the determination of the chemical composition of the different extracts of Anise. Then, the antibacterial effects of these organic extracts were also studied.

Title: A 6-10 GHz FM-UWB Transmitter

Abstract: An integrated FM-UWB transmitter with an off-chip antenna is presented in this paper. The proposed transmitter operates at the upper UWB frequency range, starting from 6GHz to 10GHz. It consists of a ring oscillator to generate the FM signal, a switching mode power amplifier that flattens the transmitter spectrum and a fractal based monopole antenna. The oscillator and the power amplifier are designed using UMC130 nm CMOS process with 1.2V power supply and 3.3mW total power consumption. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a low-cost FR4 substrate with a good agreement between measured and simulated results.

Title: Benchmarking of Unstructured Hexahedral Meshes Computations on the DLR-F4 Wing-Body Configurations

Abstract: In the aeronautical current state of affairs, aerodynamic improvement in airfoil or in aircraft designs, including its configuration studies, remains to be the state-of-the-art research topics, which are being pursued by many aerodynamicists coming from high learning institutions, research agencies, or aircraft manufacturing industries. As part of the above general trends in aerodynamic activities, this current work has been dedicated to aerodynamic simulation studies of a wing-body configuration by using a commercial software. The calculation has been conducted based on automatic unstructured hexahedral mesh generator, and on the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) principles. The high order unstructured mesh method seems to be capable in retaining its desired geometrical flexibility and capturing various flow features accurately. In addition, since a high quality set of experimental data base is publicly available, i.e., the so-called DLR-F4 wing-body experimental data, the current computational work isfocused on the computational domain of the configuration of the DLR-F4 wind tunnel wing-body model experimental data. A comparison between the current computational results with those of DLR-F4 experimental data can serve three purposes, assessing the effectiveness and fidelity of the computational work, enriching the benefits of the model for CFD validation, and gaining baseline data for further development of the CFD approach.

Abstract: The economic growth of developing countries leads to a huge increase of energy use in buildings in large campus like universities and schools. A major source of high electricity consumption is careless usage of electricity. In most cases, building appliances systems run on fixed schedules and do not employ any control system based on detailed occupancy information. This paper presents the design and deployment of occupancy detection platform that can be used for accurate occupancy detection and electrical appliances such as lights, fans, air conditioners are controlled by considering the occupancy information and weather conditions. With the help of passive infrared sensor, infrared sensor, temperature sensor and humidity sensor, the low cost and easily deployable multi-sensor node based wireless sensor network is developed to achieve effective utilization of electrical energy and manpower. The system has been implemented in laboratories, class rooms and staffrooms of Sharda University, Greater Noida, India. The results show that approximately 10-19% power can be saved due to implementation of this wireless sensor module. The security of campus against intruders, moving in these areas after working hours, is also provided by this system.
