Pages: 8-15 | Paper ID: 100705-9292-IJET-IJENS | Published: October, 2010 |
Abstract: Businesses and top management must understand what differentiates their companies from others and be obliged to appreciate the need of customers in their sector. The hotel business in Saudi Arabia is expanding rapidly with increasing international arrivals and domestic tourist. The primary objective of this paper is study the customer behaviors of toward the hotels sector and their behavior in shifting between hotels due to certain reasons. The focus was on the hotels located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia such as Hilton, Weston, Sheraton and others. Most of the customers go through different hotels due to service provided, variety of offers, low prices and proportions. There has been no systematic study on customer behavior and its analysis in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, this paper reports the results of a steady conducted to assess the behavior of customers toward the hotels sector in Saudi Arabia. This was obtained by carrying out a survey with a sample size of 184 customers. The survey contains 9 questions and the analysis of each question is presented in this paper. This was implemented by applying the concept of Markov analysis which deals with the probabilities of future occurrence by analyzing presently know probabilities.. The results of this paper can be used as a guideline for all hotels in Saudi Arabia to understand the customer behaviors and for the management to meet and satisfy these behaviors.

Abstract: 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) long term evolution (LTE) uses single carrier-frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) in uplink transmission and orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) scheme for the downlink. One of the most important challenges for a transceiver design is channel estimation (CE) and equalization. In this paper, a training based least mean square (LMS) CE method is investigated for a LTE SC-FDMA system. This method can avoid the ill-conditioned least square (LS) problem. In addition, this CE method uses adaptive estimator which is able to update parameters of the estimator continuously. Simulation results show that the LMS CE technique with 500 Hz Doppler frequency has around 3 dB better performances compared with 1.5k Hz Doppler frequency.

Abstract: Pitch angle control of wind turbine has been used widely to reduce torque and output power variation in high rated wind speed areas. It is a challenge to maximize available energy in the low rated wind speed areas. In this paper, a wind turbine prototype with a pitch angle control based on fuzzy logic to maximize the output power is built and demonstrated. In the varying low rated wind speed of 4-6 m/s, the use of fuzzy logic controller can maximize the average output power of 14.5 watt compared to 14.0 watt at a fixed pitch angle of the blade. Implementation of pitch angle fuzzy logic-based control to the wind turbine is suitable for the low rated wind speed areas.

Title: Adaptive Block Linear Equalizer for Block Data Transmission Systems
Author(s): Farid Ghani, Mutamed Khatib
Pages: 26-30 | Paper ID: 102905-1616-IJET-IJENS | Published: October, 2010 |
Abstract: This paper presents an adaptive algorithm that is considered as a modification to the Block Linear Equalizer which is used with Block Data Transmission Systems. The two main factors that influence the noise performance of the Block Data Transmission System are the distortion introduced by the channel and the block size. The proposed algorithm considerably improves the noise performance and hence the transmission efficiency of the system by adaptively reducing the block size of the transmitted signal-elements when the distortion introduced by the channel is high and increasing the same when the channel distortion is low. This advantage is achieved with only a slight increase in the equipment complexity.
