Abstract:-- The increase in railway cargo transportation demand has been promoting proportional investment and upgrowth in Brazilian tracks, in order to match train size, speed, axle load with superstructure capacity. While this does not occur at required speed, permanent way experiences load growth and assets lifetime reduction. Turnout is one of critical assets in a railroad, on which high levels of acceleration and vertical and lateral forces occur, causing excessive wear, particularly under heavy axle load traffic. Over time, new designs were developed to meet load and required service life. This article presents a technical evaluation of low impact explosion hardened frog and movable point frog in relation to rail bonded manganese frog, under 27.5 tons axle load railway traffic.

Abstract:-- This study highlights the effect of additional reinforcements in the idealized core zone of fibrous high strength concrete beams for resisting pure torsional loading. The transverse and longitudinal reinforcements were added in the area considered as idealized core zone which is supposed to be in tension condition plus the traditional reinforcements located in the main idealized shear flow zone. Four fibrous high strength under-reinforced concrete solid beams were cast and tested under pure torsion to verify the influence of secondary shear flow zone on the torsional resistance. The tested beams were designed according to ACI318-14. The transverse and longitudinal reinforcements were kept constant in the idealized main shear flow zone while the covered area in the idealized core zone by reinforcements was added as a different percentage of this zone. The test results show that torsional resistance at peak load and torsional resistance provided by reinforcement and fibre were improved up to 14.18% and 146%, respectively, due to covering of 85.4% of the idealized core zone area by transverse and longitudinal reinforcements. In addition, due to contribution of reinforcement in the idealized core zone, the strains in transverse and longitudinal reinforcements were reduced up to 60% and 69.4%, respectively.

Abstract:-- This article presents the results of an index application, in which is possible to inform the situation of a particular region regarding to suitability of cargo vehicles movability - Urban Cargo Transport Mobility Index (UCTMI). This index is based on Measures Aggregation Method, restrictions (Government's responsibility) and their respective weights (obtained from SPC Methodology), where UCTMI final values can vary between 0 and 1 (values around zero are considered unfavorable for cargo vehicle circulation and 1 more favorable). UCTMI was applied in Niterói city, where part of the downtown district was selected from this point, blocks and streets were traveled, applying it. The value obtained by the index was closer to 0, indicating that the selected area does not have a good mobility for urban cargo transportation, and measures to reverse this situation are required.

Abstract:-- The purpose of this article is to present a methodology to develop a model to estimate transferred demand to passenger rail transport systems in regional or semi-urban links, with pendulous feature trips, i.e. home x work and home x school trips. A literature review was carried out to understand demand modeling on rail systems in order to identify models, variables and techniques used to estimate transferred demand. From the knowledge of the process to be developed, Stated Preference, Structured Pair-wise Comparison (SPC) process and Multimodal Logit Model methods were used, using Biogeme software for results analysis. Transferred demand forecast methodology was able to measure demand behavior when passenger rail transport was proposed to link regions, thereby expressing more reliable demand behavior.
