Abstract: The development of and competition in educational facilities gradually increase the service quality’s importance. To accommodate this rapid process, educational organisations attempt to measure their performance and to enhance their standards. In general, an organisation’s performance does not depend solely on one criterion; instead, it should be evaluated based on multiple criteria. In this study, the academic performances of the departments within the Engineering Faculty of one of the largest universities in Turkey, Gazi University, have been compared using a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) method, TOPSIS. The criteria weights for the TOPSIS method are determined dependent upon linguistically expressed expert opinions. Therefore, a Delphi method based on the 2-tuple fuzzy linguistic representation model for computing with words is proposed. A sensitivity analysis study is also performed to determine the most critical criterion.

Abstract: Health education and supervision is necessary for better Healthcare waste (HCW) management. All the employees of various designations in a healthcare facility are required to be aware of proper collection, segregation, and transport HCW to the final disposal point. Attitude of health professionals plays a significant role in successful management of HCW. Health education programs are important to raise awareness and develop skills of healthcare workers. It is important to highlight the role(s) to be played by each individual staff member. In order to facilitate communication amongst the healthcare workers, training should target a multidisciplinary group and be provided at hospitals. The present study aims at assessing nursing and sanitation staff attitude regarding HCW management before and after the implementation an educational intervention program in the three hospitals under study (Kosti, Rabak, and Eduiem) which represent the main hospitals in the White Nile State in Sudan. The study main results showed that attitude of nursing and sanitation staff is generally positive regarding HCW management, and it significantly improved after the implementation of the educational intervention program. The study recommended continuous educational programs for hospitals’ staff with enough information and training relevant to HCW management.

Title: Effect of Desferrioxamine Injection on Some Metal Ions in β-Thalassemia Major Patients
Author(s): Rawa Ratha, Dler M. salh, Dlzar D. Ghafoor
Pages: 25-27 Paper ID:151205-6969-IJBAS-IJENS Published: October, 2015
Abstract: In this study, 50 patients with β-thalassemia major, and 20 apparently healthy control subjects were investigated for: hemoglobin, serum iron, serum copper, serum magnesium, total iron binding capacity, transferrin saturation, and serum ferritin. The present study, which used the sensitive and accurate ICP instrument revealed that the mean serum Fe and Cu levels in thalassemia major patients are significantly higher than in healthy subjects, whereas the mean serum Mg levels in the patients are significantly lower compared to control groups. Total iron binding capacity, transferrin saturation, and serum ferritin was higher in patients compared to healthy individuals. Hemoglobin level was decreased in comparison to control groups.
Keywords: Desferrioxamine, β-Thalassemia, metal ions, iron chelations.
